ICU RN Job in Red Bluff, CA

St Elizabeth Community Hospital is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment in their 8-bed Intensive Care Unit. You'll work three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) with an every-other-weekend requirement of 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period. Holiday rotation follows the permanent staff schedule.

About the Role

You will care for 1–2 patients per assignment in a unit that maintains an average census of 3–4 patients with 2–3 nurses on shift. Responsibilities include titrating vasoactive drips (Levophed, dopamine, heparin, insulin), reading your own telemetry strips, and collaborating with a 24/7 in-house hospitalist and ICU tele-intensivist. A respiratory therapist is available in the unit around the clock, working with Viasys or Hamilton ventilators.

The charge nurse manages patient assignments. You may be floated first when needed, typically to med-surg (1:5 ratio), pediatrics (1:4 ratio if qualified), or the ER (if qualified). Call and standby are optional.

Environment & Support

This is a Trauma Level 3 acute care setting with a team-oriented, family-style culture. You'll chart in Cerner (experience preferred). Unit orientation consists of 2–3 shifts, and self-scheduling is available with schedules made 30–45 days in advance.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• 2–5 years of ICU specialty experience required; experience in a smaller ICU setting required
• ACLS, BLS (AHA), and dysrhythmia certification through AHA
• NIHSS certification
• PALS and TNCC preferred
• Ability to work independently and integrate into a collaborative team
• BSN not required
• First-time travelers accepted
