PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kearney, NE

CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska is seeking an RN for their Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 105-day travel assignment starting September 28, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,384.64.

Shift and Schedule

• 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
• Days (6:30 AM – 6:30 PM) or nights (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Minimum of 2 holidays required within contract timeframe
• On-call availability with 30-minute arrival requirement if called back in

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage 1:4–5 patient ratios on both day and night shifts
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin
• Manage arterial lines
• Work with high-flow respiratory equipment
• Float to Med-Surg or ICU as needed for PCU acuity patients

Unit Overview

The 40-bed PCU serves adults with cardiac medical/surgical diagnoses, dialysis, cancer, vascular conditions, sepsis, respiratory issues, stroke, post-stent placement, post-pacemaker placement, and renal failure. Average daily census is 24. Nurse aides and patient care techs are available at a 1:12 ratio, and a charge nurse is present on each shift with an assignment. The unit serves diverse cultural populations, primarily Hispanic and Somalian communities.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Competence in arterial line management
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care departments

Orientation and Systems

• One day of unit-specific orientation provided
• Pass/fail open-book exam on Wednesdays during orientation (minimum passing score: 90%)
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• BSN not required
