Med Surg RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 91-day travel assignment in Medical-Surgical nursing. You'll work 3x12 day shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) with 36 guaranteed hours per week at $2,602 weekly pay. Start date: September 21, 2026.

Unit Overview

You'll provide care in a 40-bed Post Surgical Care Unit serving pre- and post-surgical adults and geriatric patients. The unit operates at 90–95% occupancy during the week with an average length of stay of 2–3 days and 10–15 admissions daily. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 or 1:5 on days/evenings and 1:5–7 on nights. You may float to other inpatient units as needed, and the unit may utilize low-census shifts in 4-hour increments.

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Multitask and prioritize care based on patient acuity
• Collaborate as part of the nursing team
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2+ years of Med Surg experience with recent hospital experience
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Equipment & Systems

You'll use Epic EMR for charting, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps. Any color scrubs are permitted.
