Opportunity:

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• Work in a 42-bed NICU unit located on the 3rd floor of the Central Tower
• Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge Nurse Coordinator (CNC), 1 Transport RN, RNs dependent on census and acuity, 1 unit secretary, and 1-2 unit techs dependent on census
• Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge Nurse Coordinator (CNC), 1 Transport RN, RNs dependent on census and acuity, 1 unit secretary, and 1-2 unit techs dependent on census
• Patient ratios: Level 3 - 2:1 and 1:1 dependent on acuity; Level 2 - 3:1
• Day shift weekend requirement: 4 weekends (Saturday/Sunday)
• Night shift weekend requirement: 5 weekends (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Operate and understand equipment including radiant warmers, isolettes, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, ventilators, oscillators, JETs, CPAP, NIPPV, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannulas, EKG monitors, and breast milk warmers
• Use EMR systems CPN and Meditech
• Required scrub color: Royal Blue
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP
• Must safely administer medications including medication calculations and adherence to 5 patient rights
• Must be able to appropriately handle expressed mother's breast milk (EMB)
• Must provide care for patients with NG/OG tubes, CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, Nasal Cannula, PIVs, PICCs, and UAC/UVC lines
• Must safely care for patients 22 weeks gestation and above
• Must promote safe sleeping practices at 32-34 weeks gestation
• Must demonstrate developmentally appropriate care when handling preterm infants
• Must be proficient in lab draws and knowledgeable in escalating patient concerns
• Must perform NAS scoring
• Preferred experience with ETT, ventilators, JETs, cooling, and surgical patients
• Typical unit procedures include intubations, UAC/UVC placement, eye exams, X-rays, ultrasounds, EEG, EKG, lumbar punctures, lab draws, PICC placement, circumcisions, and bedside surgical procedures
• May float to Mother Baby unit to manage babies only
• Ideal candidate is a team player, open to receiving feedback, and contributes to a positive unit culture
