Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Must work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-7 on days and 1:6-8 on nights
• Common diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness
• RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, bumex, and lasix (no cardiac drip titration)
• Respiratory therapy team manages breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and respiratory equipment such as BiPap, CPAP, and high flow O2; RNs responsible for monitoring only
• Monitor techs located on level 5 read and monitor telemetry for all patients; nurses not expected to read and interpret telemetry independently
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling; schedule managed by unit manager with consideration for requested time off
• Travelers expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent schedule
• Rotating shifts spread across two weeks of days and two weeks of nights to avoid working both in the same week
• May be floated to other Med Surg, Med Surg Telemetry, or IMC units for lower acuity patients
• Scrub color: Navy blue for RNs
• Charting system: EPIC
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS
• RN license required; must disclose any licensing hits at time of submission
• Must provide a copy of an unexpired driver's license; 50-mile radius rule applies
