PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12 night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Must be comfortable working all PCU and Medical/Surgical units
• Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, with potential to float 2-3 times per shift
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• PCU average patient ratio of 5:1; MS average patient ratio of 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)
• Ratios can be 1:6 with PCU patients and may require working without CNA support
• EPIC charting experience required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Additional preferred certifications: CPI, NIHSS, Trauma
• Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, titrating cardiac drips, and responding to emergencies via Rapid Response/Code teams
• Capable of managing PCA and heparin protocols, administering IV insulin, and handling endocrine/metabolic conditions
• Background in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC), with cardiovascular experience in pre/post cardiac cath settings
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Treats adult and geriatric patient populations
• Interdisciplinary support available including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation
