ICU Registered Nurse Job in Chesapeake, VA

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit. This is a 91-day travel position with a start date of November 16, 2026.

Position Details

• Schedule: 3x12 nights (12-hour shifts)
• Weekly pay: $2,203.20
• Patient ratio: typically 1:2–3
• Floating required to Step-Down, Emergency Department, and Medical-Surgical units as needed to support ICU patients

Required Experience & Skills

• Strong neuro critical care experience, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke management
• Ventilator management and IV drip titration
• Telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Emergency response and critical care protocols
• Epic proficiency (mandatory)
• Three years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
• Travel experience preferred

Patient Populations

You will care for neurosurgical and post-stroke patients, as well as those with respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical complications, trauma, sepsis, MODS, and heart failure.

Licensing & Certifications

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license required at submission
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• EKG testing required; must score 80% or higher (one attempt, no remediation)

Additional Requirements

• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required
• 3 hours of pre-start modules required
• No license or background hits; clean record mandatory
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
