About this role

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit (6S). This is a 91-day travel assignment starting September 14, 2026, offering a 3x12 night shift schedule at $2,203.20 weekly.

Unit Overview

You will work on a 28-bed MedSurg Neuro & Stroke unit serving adult and geriatric populations. The typical patient ratio is 1:7 across all shifts. The unit has 30 rooms and 30 beds with a daily census of 28.

Schedule & Requirements

The assigned schedule is 3x12 nights. Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required. Extensions through January 9, 2027 are available; if extended, you must work two of the three winter holidays. Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license: Active Virginia or Compact RN license required—no exceptions
  • Experience: 2+ years of RN experience with demonstrated competency in Neurology/Stroke patient care in acute care settings
  • Travel experience required
  • Epic proficiency required—no exceptions
  • EKG/telemetry test: Must score 80% or higher on the first attempt; no remediation available
  • Current certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS

Clinical Skills

You must be proficient in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, neurology and stroke patient care, heparin and insulin administration, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, wound care and wound vac therapy, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, PCA management, phlebotomy, pre- and post-hemodialysis management, pre- and post-neurosurgery care, and traumatic brain injury care.
