PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Block scheduling available upon request; submit all RTO requests with initial application

Role and Responsibilities

You will care for adult patients with neurological conditions, including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, and neuro-specific diagnoses. The unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring. Patient ratios are 1:4-5 (you must be comfortable with a 1:5 ratio). You may float to other units within your clinical skillset as needed.

Your clinical responsibilities include cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, medication administration, cardiac drips (no titration), respiratory support including nasal cannula and oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, Rapid Response and Code team participation, and isolation precautions.

Requirements

• Active Virginia state or compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; prior charge experience preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience required

Support and Resources

Interdisciplinary support is available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,208.
