Telemetry RN Job in Kansas City, MO

Research Medical Center MO is seeking a travel RN for a 91-day assignment on our 29-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit. You will work 3x12 shifts (days) with a 1:4 patient ratio in a team that includes a Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and Patient Care Technicians.

Your responsibilities:

• Monitor and care for cardiac telemetry patients, including those in post-procedural phases (ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-op day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements)
• Read and interpret EKG and telemetry strips
• Administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
• Perform IV insertions, nasogastric tube placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemaker management, and Foley catheter insertions
• Document in Meditech electronic health record system
• Operate cardiac monitoring equipment including Alaris IV pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, Dinamap vital signs monitors, Welch Allyn devices, Wound Vacs, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, bladder scanners, Dopplers, and Imobile communication systems
• Provide patient-centered care with courtesy and respect
• Float to other areas where you have demonstrated competency

Requirements:

• Current RN license
• Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to work full-time hours including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
• Navy blue scrubs required (black scrub pants acceptable with navy blue top)
