PCU RN Job in Morgantown, WV

Join WVU JW Ruby Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit. This is a weekend day shift position working 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM on a flexible schedule. You'll choose from Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday block scheduling, with every effort made to accommodate your preferred pattern.

Your Role

You'll provide direct patient care in a flex unit serving both step-down and floor patients, adjusting to hospital and patient needs. You may also work in a Charge Nurse capacity. There is no on-call or standby requirement. Your nurse-to-patient ratios will be 3:1 for step-down patients and 6:1 for floor and med-surg patients. Clinical Associates (nurse aides) support the unit with a goal of maintaining a 1:10 CA-to-patient ratio.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate intravenous drips per written orders, including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, and ketamine
• Manage opioid PCAs (morphine, dilaudid, fentanyl) and TPN administration
• Operate and monitor CPAP and BiPAP on floor and step-down units; HiFlow and ventilators available in step-down (ICU manages ventilator setting adjustments)
• Utilize remote telemetry surveillance with central monitoring on the unit; a remote center is available and RNs are not expected to read their own strips
• Chart in EPIC (experience required)

What to Expect

As a travel nurse, you may be first to float or be pulled to other floor and step-down units based on staffing needs. You'll work approximately half of all recognized holidays. Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week assignment (1 shift for assignments under 13 weeks). Dress code is any combination of royal blue and white scrubs.

Requirements

BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required. A BSN is not required for this role. This assignment runs for 91 days, beginning October 13, 2026, and pays $2,380 weekly.
