PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule options of 3x12 or 4x12 on weekdays with some weekend shifts required
• Block scheduling considered for weekend blocks only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4 with flex to 1:5 in emergency situations
• Unit serves adult and geriatric patient populations with a primary focus on cardiac patients including cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures
• 36-bed unit with a daily census of 34
• Acuity varies as some stepdown patients may present at a Progressive Care or Telemetry level
• Minimum 1.5-2+ years of experience required; 1 year of Med/Tele and 2 years of Stepdown experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips and telemetry
• Required skills include IV start and telemetry monitoring
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA)
• Charting system: Cerner experience required
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
