Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work in a 24-bed Intermediate Care Unit treating intermediate medical patients and surgery overflow including TURPs, laparoscopic procedures, eye surgery, oral surgery, diabetic teaching, and wound care
• Fast-paced unit supporting throughput from both the ED and OR
• Patient ratio of 1:5, with rare occasions where ratio may flex to 1:6
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required with Telemetry experience required
• Travel experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrub color: Navy
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include: cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, use of Rapid Response Teams, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care and management, continuous bladder irrigation, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, PCA, CVA management, nasal cannula and oxygen face mask use, portable oxygen tank, isolation precautions, wound care and wound vac, and CBI management
• Preferred skills include: titration of insulin drips, renal failure management, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, tracheostomy management, and eye surgery experience
• Patients treated include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
