PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 3x12 night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, weekdays with some weekends required
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4 with flexibility to 1:5 in emergency situations
• Block scheduling available for weekend blocks only (Fri, Sat, Sun or Sat, Sun, Mon)
• Primarily cardiac patient population including cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, as well as med/surg and medical patients
• Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics
• Unit capacity of 36 beds with a daily census of 34
• Minimum 1 year of med/surg or telemetry experience and 2 years of stepdown experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA)
• Required skills include IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, heparin protocols, and central line care required
• Proficiency with blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, and interpretation of dysrhythmias required
• Charting system: Cerner experience required
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• WV or Compact nursing license required
