Med Surg RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a Registered Nurse on a 30-bed Orthopedic/Neurology/Pediatrics unit located on the 6th floor East. This is a 91-day travel assignment running 3x12 hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM), starting September 7, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,070.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with a ratio of 1:5 to 1:6
• Deliver post-operative care for orthopedic, spine surgical, and podiatry patients
• Operate Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps, and sequential compression devices (SCDs)
• Document patient information in the Meditech EMR system
• Collaborate with a day-shift team of 1 clinical coordinator, 5 RNs, 2 techs, and 1 unit secretary

Requirements

• Current RN licensure
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification preferred
• Ability to care for pediatric patients preferred
• Experience with post-operative orthopedic care preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Patient advocacy mindset
